The money is as good as spent!

Well, yesterday I mailed in the last payment for our three boys so we are officially alpaca owners. We hope to get them local in a couple weeks and then to our house in March some time.

I did pick up a trailer hitch for my truck today, so one more thing out of the way that I needed.

The new news!

Well, we still do not have a date for picking up our boys yet, but we did get our paperwork from the selling farm a couple days ago. It's nice to have the full ARI paperwork to look into. I'm very happy with the lines these alpaca come from. All 3 are Peruvian and 1 for sure has Accoyo in him.

Other than that, things are still slow giong for the moment. We have not yet signed up for ARI or AOBA, but we do plan to. Hoping to add some new pictures soon and get our full website up and running.

We have pictures!

Well I'm happy to say that I can still code enough javascript to manage a simple image slide show. I may change it a bit later to be more dynamic, but since we only have 8 pictures of our boys right now it's not a big deal. I will probably create thumbnail images too, instead of loading the full images. This will take a long on dial up, like at home.

Ok, I finally figured it out!

Well, we got some pictures of Coronado and I'll be updated our slideshow to show only pictures we have of our farm or animals soon. We may post some pics in the blog too, but time will tell.

I did finally figure out something at the shows that we were not sure on. When they did the color champion, they have 2 rows. Once one is selected from the front row, only the one behind it moved up and the rest left. I didn't get this at first. Then the light came on. As we had already figured, the front line was the best of the prior groups alpacas. The reason the one behind them comes up is to make sure that the best 2 alpacas were not in the same group. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it. It seems to make sense to me.

We are currently getting our ducks in a row to join AOBA and ARI. There is a lot to learn and understand about each membership type. From what my wife and I could see and discussed and taking in information from a local farm we will most likely join with the AOBA farm membership and voting in ARI. I've been told we need to get a show membership through AOBA as well. Like they say, the devil is in the details...

Welcome to our adventure.

Please stop bye and read about our adventure of bringing alpacas in to our farm. We have learned much and would like to share our experiences with everyone out there.

I would first like to thank Lands End Alpacas for taking the time to work through all the details of the contracts to get us lined up with our 3 boys Alexander, Coronado and Oddyssey.

I would like to send my congratulations to Willow Ridge Farm for the 2 blue ribbons they won over the weekend at the Ohio Alpacafest. This will be our short term boarding location once we bring our alpacas closer to home.

Our little boys!

I am just so excited! We haven't even got to meet them yet, but after the new year we will get to move them close to home so that we can visit them and make them know how much they are loved.
